Gather, Carnoustie was somewhere that had been tantalisingly taunting me for a while now. Biscoff Milkshakes, Eggs benny stacks, brunchy, yummy looking food. So on a particularly mediocre looking weekend, my husband and I decided to drive up in that direction to experience the promises of the instagram grid for ourselves.

Just past Dundee, Carnoustie is synonymous with golf, as we were a little early we walked part of the golf course and walked some length of the beach. The Gather is set back from the beachfront on the high street, you’re immediately met with shelves of local Scottish produce and other nice foodie bits on entry.

We had booked and the place did start to become busier as our meal progressed. We opted for a smoothie to start but we shared the equivalent of one and the staff kindly put it in smaller glasses for us to enjoy.

Then it was on to coffees and the main event – Gav had the bacon stack and added black pudding to his. I had the halloumi stack and added bacon to mine, the combination with the sourdough and avocado was just perfect!

We left with goodies from the foodie shelves. We bought the coffee they use in the cafe too, Sacred Grounds coffee beans from Arbroath.
