The Chop House is one of my favourite Edinburgh steak houses. I spent Hogmanay at their Bruntsfield restaurant (they boast 3 now, the other 2 are in Leith and at The Arches on Market Street). It was a sweltering hot afternoon when Gavin and I decided a jaunt on the train to Ipswich was in order. It had been a while since I caught up with my good friend House of Herby, so what better way to chill on a Sunday than by the Leith shore.
Edinburgh’s south side is fast becoming a foodie haven and there’s a new and improved kid on the block. The Salisbury Arms is a recently renovated Georgian Gastropub with beautifully finished features inside and out. On entry to the main restaurant you are greeted with a cosy yet open dining area and your eyes are immediately drawn to the roaring fire which is the centre piece of the room.
